Oscars Red Carpet Review

The 84th Annual Academy Awards were last night, as you may know, and there were some beautiful gowns on the red carpet. Here are a few of my favorite looks:

Let's start off with a bang! Here we have Angelina Jolie (in a Versace gown and Salvatore Ferregamo shoes) with long time partner Brad Pitt. I love how luxe the black velvet looks, and her hair is just perfect. However hilariously her leg jockeyed for the limelight all night, this look is a hit.

I absolutely adore Jessica Chastain in this rich Alexander McQueen number. The gold detailing is to die for and really plays up her gorgeous hair color.

How about Rooney Mara going for old Hollywood glamour in this Givenchy Haute Couture gown. The evening definitely paid homage to the glory days of old Hollywood with The Artist taking home best picture. Although Mara's Girl with the Dragon Tattoo didn't win, she certainly kept to the theme.

Penelope Cruz looked like a dream in this custom floating blue gown by Giorgio Armani.

Here's Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera; it's very on trend with that peplum waist.

All in all, the show gracefully honored the tradition of making and going to movies. On my list of films to watch: Hugo, My Week With Marilyn, and The Artist

Trend Alert: Spring!

Spring is just around the corner, and with it come the spring trends. Here are two to keep your eye out for!

1. 1920s - Think Gatsby, Wallis Simpson, Chanel, and Downton Abbey.

Drop Waist Dresses

Elegant Brooches

2. Peplum - for those of you who, like me, were unaware that the word "peplum" even existed in the English language until now, the definition is as follows: "a short full flounce or an extension of a garment below the waist, covering the hips." Let's take a look:

(New York) Fashion Week 2012

I know I haven't posted in a little while, so here is what's on my mind:
As you may or may not be aware, it is currently fashion week in NYC! Unfortunately, I am unable to be there, but I am watching from afar. I won't be posting any pictures or videos but I'd encourage you all to check out the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week official website as well as keeping an eye on the New York page of Refinery 29, a killer fashion blog.
